Why Online Therapy is Often the Right Choice

When we went into lock down I thought that my practice would have to be shelved for a while, but there were clients who wanted to continue their journey so we continued on Zoom ... and I was delighted to find it was better for some!!
Looking back now I cannot imagine why I was surprised. Most of us have complicated, busy lives. To attend an appointment involves planning, travel time, extra expense; all things most of us can do without.
A lot of the problems I help people with are related to anxiety in some way. Sometimes the thought of a visit somewhere new may heighten anxiety ... or even seem impossible.
Then, after the session there is the journey home.
By working with me online, my clients are already in an environment where they feel most comfortable and secure, they have less to plan, nowhere to travel, they can just relax and enjoy the session. A bit of time for themselves in their own home.
Then, when we have said goodbye, they can continue to enjoy the benefits of the session without going back out into the busyness of the World. Most of my clients end their sessions from the comfort of their bed, or snuggled under a throw on the sofa (even if only for a few minutes before normal life resumes), what could be less anxiety inducing than that?
